Last night my parents graciously offered to keep Evie overnight. It was amazing to get a full night of sleep without the monitor cracking, popping, or E making noises. This morning I woke up early to go pick E up before my mom had to be at bell rehearsal at church. I quickly got ready for the day. Then I went to go feed the dogs. When I opened the back door, I discovered that Fall had found its' way past the stubborn Texas Summer! It was actually cool and crisp outside. I rode the wave of cooler temperature bliss until about 10 minutes ago. I thought to myself, "this is too good to be true" and sure enough the temps should be back into the high 80s and low 90s tomorrow. Womp, womp! Texas Summers never give up their fight to stick around way longer than necessary. Hopefully in the next couple of months the heat will go away for more than 24 hours.
E is doing pretty well. Her sleep is still pretty wacky. Once we get her down at night (it sometimes takes a couple of return trips in the room to burp her or remind her that we have not left the planet), she usually sleeps through the night. Her naps are a bit of a struggle. She fights them until the point of hysterics! When I finally give up after I've exhausted all tricks to get her down she just smiles at me. By this point, I am not smiling back at her. Hopefully this nap-time nightmare is just a stage that will soon pass.
I am tired. As grateful as I am that my parents let E crash at their house last night, I could have slept in until noon today. My shellac manicure that I got on Saturday started lifting like crazy and was peeled off last night. That manicure should have lasted 2-3 weeks. We hired a new crew of housekeepers who came on Monday. They left our front door unlocked. They got a verbal spanking from me. We also hired a lawn guy. Our back yard is almost to the point of not being embarrassing. This weekend I am attending a board retreat for our city's branch of Keep Texas Beautiful. I also plan to clean out the garage and rain gutters. Hopefully on Sunday I'll squeeze in a pedicure before the Texans kick-off in Denver. Next week E has her head measurement on Wednesday, and I have a hair appointment on Friday. I also feel compelled to add that I am currently first in our Fantasy League. I expect that will change soon, so I wanted to put it in writing while it is still true.
Stephen is busy at work. He went over and visited with E while I was hosting bible study last night. We are playing each other in Fantasy Football this week.
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this 24 hour taste of Fall.
