Our 6 Month Old Genius

Evie is now 6 months old. She is an expert roller in all directions. She is a fabulous assisted sitter. Her hearing and sight are perfect. She is smiley and pleasant almost all of the time. She is sleeping like a champ in 10-12 hour increments at night. She takes 2, 2-3 hour naps during the day. She takes 4-5 bottles a day. She has rice twice a day with a vegetable or fruit. She doesn't like water. She gets a confused look on her face when she takes a sip.

We took her for her 6 month well baby check up today. I will go more into detail about that later, but here are her stats:

26" height, 60%

19 lbs, 94% (Weight didn't seem to be a hang up for the doctor today. Just said to back off the ratio of cereal to food. She also suggested starting yogurt and avocado.)

17.8" HC, 97% (Jumped a bit from the last appointment. Wants us to bring her back in a month to check it. If it continues to grow in such an exponential speed they may order tests. Ugh. I'm trying to tell myself she just has a big brain that will cure cancer someday!)

My pediatrician came into the room at 4:50. Our appointment was scheduled for 3:40. She always offers up some reason why she was running behind, but I am very annoyed. Poor E was hungry and exhausted by the time they needed to give her the vaccinations. Thankfully she took the bottle immediately after and didn't fuss much at all. I held her for her shots this time. It wasn't as bad as I had dreamt it up to be.

Do all pediatricians have 2 hour appointments? Is this the norm? It seems ridiculous to me.

Glad that's over. Everyone pray that her HC growth chills out. I don't want to have to haul her up to the children's hospital just for them to tell me what I already know...

She's perfect and a genius.

  1. Brendan went through the huge head worries but we both have huge heads. Our doc did a CT scan just to be sure and everything was fine. Some kids just have big heads. Our doc measured Brent's head and was like woah, I thought I had a big head. It was funny.
