I attempted to complete the book, One Thousand Gifts, by Ann Voskamp, but her writing style lost me. Despite deciding against finishing the book (I got about 1/2 way through), I did really like the premise. Ann documented 1000 things worth giving thanks for. Brilliant. Some were very specific while others were kind of broad. I've been running a mental gift list ever since. When I am feeling pressure or stress I can find peace by recognizing the gifts that I am thankful for. I'm going to make an attempt to document One Thousand of my very own Gifts. I'll probably jot 5-10 after my blog posts and well as putting some randomly on Twitter or Facebook. Here are some of the gifts I've already documented:
1. Quiet car rides with an infant in the backseat
2. Nights spent snuggling with Bella
3. Seeing Evie's face light up in a huge smile when Radar comes around her
4. Bath time bonding with Max (you read that right)
5. My husband's snoring drowning out the pops and cracks of the baby monitor so that I can sleep better
6. Tag teaming night shifts when Evie isn't feeling well
7. Feeling Evie fall asleep on my shoulder
8. Evie falling asleep sitting up on my lap
9. Getting back rubs from my sister
10. Hand cream
11. Unlimited fresh water
12. Hot water
13. Bubble baths
14. The smell of books
15. Seeing my favorite football team win
16. Fresh, homegrown tomatoes
17. Soft, fresh sheets
18. An empty laundry hamper
19. Access to medicine to make us feel better when we are sick
20. Fridays when my husband is off work
