You Have Your Hands Full

Don't I know it.

Life with a "quirky" toddler is nothing short of exhausting. Today alone I've had to say, "Keep your clothes on!" "Get off the table!" "Don't go poop on the carpet behind the couch!" "Stop putting your toys in the sink!" And today has been a relatively calm day.

I've been told that she'll outgrow a lot of these "quirks" but probably not all of them. E is receiving intervention for some developmental delays and OT for some sensory seeking behaviors. It seems like she makes a lot of progress then learns some new crazy trick that keeps us on our toes just as we start to think life is going to get easier. For instance, she used to be a flight risk whenever there was an open door or open space so we always had to leash her or hold her hand. Now she is demanding "hold me!" when we go almost anywhere. She wasn't undressing herself as much as they like a potty-training child to do and now she won't keep clothes on. Lord.

My hands are full, but so is my heart.
