Friday morning started out as a normal day. It's amazing how quickly things went downhill. I got Evie up and ready for school. She was happy as a clam as we set off. I pulled into the parking spot at school and it happened. Evie got sick for the first time. I looked back at her panicked face and said, "It's ok baby. It's ok." How I managed to stay calm is surprising to me even now. I'm glad I was because when she got sick again later on that day she was a champ. After 24 hours she was almost 100%. At that point, of course, I started to feel queasy. Within an hour after the onset of the feelings, I was down with the same stomach bug. Stephen and I my Dad quickly followed. While we're not all 100%, we're back amongst the living. I haven't been sick like that since I was a child.
A quick internet search taught me that most preschool age children/toddlers contract stomach bugs around this time of year because parents are sending their children to school sick so that they don't miss the fun Fall/Holiday parties. I'll know to be prepared for it come next year. Whew! I kept Evie out of school until today (72+ hours symptom free). Everything I could find said she's good to go. She's been in a great mood. She was literally squealing with excitement when we go to school today. She just loves it!
Glad I survived, but still waiting for my appetite to return.
I would hope it spreads bc the incubation period takes a bit, and people don't know their kids have it until it's already been shared versus just not wanting them to miss parties - that's craziness.
