1. Evie is now going down for bed around 8:45-9:15pm. She usually screeches out once in the middle of the night for two seconds, and then sleeps until 7:45-8am. What do you make of the middle of the night screech? Did you experience this? Will she stop doing it eventually?
2. Evie is about to be starting actual baby food. How did you decide which vegetable to give to your baby first? Is there a webpage with information you used?
3. The mosquitoes are awful. They have infiltrated our house, and I'm wondering if there is some magic trick to solving this problem without harming Evie or the pets. Tips?
4. Evie laughs/chuckles at awkward moments during church. Do you have suggestions for keeping her entertained or should we just bite the bullet and put her in the church nursery?
5. What was the brand or style of the first "sippy cup" you introduced your baby to?
1. With Brendan, I probably went up to his room with every single sound during his first 6 months. With Kaylee, I learned to distinguish between "uhh, I woke myself up, but I'll go back to sleep shortly" cries and "WAHHHH somebody come get me now!" cries. There is no telling why they do it, but sometimes they just make noise to make noise I think.
ReplyDelete2. I started both kiddos on orange veggies first. I honestly cannot tell you where I read that or what made me decide to stick with that advice.
3. Cutter outdoor yard spray: http://www.cutterinsectrepellents.com/Products-and-Solutions/Backyard-Bug-Control-Concentrate/ReadytoSpray.aspx It will be your best friend for the summer. It works for exactly 6 weeks. We're getting our next bottle today in fact. We sprayed in May, and I haven't seen one until this week. Crazy how well it works.
4. Both of our kiddos were very active babies. I never once brought them into church. The nurseries are wonderful and the ladies love to hug on your babies for you. She'll be in good hands.
5. Munchkin with Kaylee and I can't remember with Brendan. My sis-in-law swears by these cups as non-leaking cups http://www.walmart.com/ip/Gerber-Graduates-Fun-Grips-10-oz.-Toddler-Cups-4-Pack/15539766. VERY tempted to go buy some myself but I hate to spend more money on stupid cups! Lol. There are days when I'm convinced that Kaylee could make any cup leak. Kaylee liked straw cups better at first than the normal sippy cup lids.
1. I would guess she's just waking up, remembers that it's night time & is going back to sleep. Or gas. Or a dream. Who knows. I'd like to say it ends, but it hasn't for us yet. I rarely even hear them anymore, but I'm sure A still makes noise sometimes.
ReplyDelete2. We used the book Super Baby Food as an outline of when to introduce what. There is a little bit of rhyme & reason to their order, but in the grand scheme of things, it's probably not a huge deal (as long as you avoid the big ones like high-acid or gas-causing foods). IMHO the more important thing is to give them a varied diet as soon as you can (waiting the 3 days for reactions) to get them used to yummy, healthy things. I've tried really hard with this one, so I'm hoping Ada doesn't end up being an only-chicken nugget/pizza eater!
3. There are tons of "natural" remedies out there, but we haven't tried any. We use a Thermacell thing when we're outside, and they really seem to work! I've heard to check the corners of the ceiling in the baby's room at night so at least she doesn't get bitten up in her sleep.
4. I wanted A with us as long as possible, and that lasted until she was around 9 months and was discovering her own volume. I'm hoping she can come back in there with us around 2, but we'll see. I think little baby noises are just fine during the service, however. Our church has A LOT of older people with different perspectives, though, so I felt a little bit of silent pressure. I would take quiet, soft toys for her when she stayed with us, though. Soft books, small stuffed animals, etc.
5. We used the Nuby ones with two handles until she got the concept and was holding her own bottles. Then, we switched to the taller ones w/o handles. Finally jumped to Playtex at 12m to wean off bottles completely.
1.) She is learning to put herself back to sleep. Over time she will go through periods will she won't be sleeping through the night, and it's normal.
ReplyDelete2.) Can't help really, because we didn't do baby food except for a week. She always ate what we did. ((Baby Led Weaning))
3.) Skin So Soft mixed with equal parts rubbing alcohol in to a spray bottle! Grace has NEVER had a bite and they were AWFUL in South Carolina.
4.) If she doesn't seem to disturb others I wouldn'y worry. Sometimes you think everyone is watching and upset, but it's rarely the case. I know I usually don't pay much mind to other's babies unless they are screaming. Grace still goes with us sometimes and usually just waves and smiles at the lady behind us. Mostly she loves to dance when we sing. If she gets too loud, Chase takes her out.
5.) First sippy was a Nuk soft tip cup. Both girls had the same type.
