We Won The Lottery A Day Late

About a year ago, we began to notice things that would happen to us that were so unlucky it was comedic. This was all set off when we won the lottery... a day late.

Like so many people, we only purchase lottery tickets when the jackpot gets absurdly high. Stephen as a theory that the winning tickets are only sold in rural areas, so he'll purchase them outside of the metropolis. So a while back the jackpot soared to a bazillion dollars (yeah, not so sure but it was lots of millions) and Stephen purchased us a few tickets. We went online that night to see if we had any numbers matching, not expecting any winnings. We started to check off our tickets and realized one card had every.single.number.matching. We even had the matching "Power Ball" number! Our hearts jumped into our throats as we started to go towards something feeling like shock. This was so bizarre. I told Stephen to check again, and he showed me that yes indeed, all of our numbers matched. Yikes! This couldn't be happening! Could it? Oh wait... those were the winning numbers for the previous day. Gulp. What are the odds? We almost felt like we should have won a consolation $10 just for the random coincidence.

Since then we've realized that whatever traffic lane we are in, is the slow lane. Whatever check out line we're in, is the one that will take the longest to get through. If we go out for a special dinner, we'll get seated in the section that sounds like a Chic-Fil-A playground. If we commit to going outside to exercise, it will rain. Oh the laughs God certainly gets from watching us squirm!

Thankfully, it's not always like this for us, but it does seem to happen more often than it doesn't. We've learned to just drive in the slow lanes, pick the longest lines when we go to the store, and to find places where we seat ourselves. We even have a Kinect for indoor exercise. Does anyone else ever feel like you are the entertainment for some kind of  "Truman Show"?
