Ever since Stephen and I began dating, we have had this ongoing dispute (in fun, bickering style) about the common side dish to turkey on Thanksgiving. Growing up I was raised with Granny J's dressing. It is one of my all time favorite foods, and I've yet to taste anything half as good from anyone else. Stephen, and almost everyone else, has been brought up on stuffing. So when Stephen and I began dating he publicly referred to what we ate as stuffing. Needless to say, it didn't go over well. My family considers stuffing something you make out of a box mix with not near enough sage. To refer to what our family makes, homemade, as stuffing is nothing short of blasphemy. I think I've finally gotten him to see what we believe to be the difference between stuffing and dressing, but I know he's just humoring me. He's a man, so it's all the same to him so long as he can eat copious amounts of it.
We hope that this Thanksgiving you enjoy whatever traditions and sacred family dishes you hold near to your heart. This is a wonderful day to reflect on all of the blessings in your life. It's very easy to focus on what we do not have, but it's more important to recognize all of the wonderful gifts we have instead.
2 Corinthians 9:11-12
You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.
