DC Review

Nov. 9: We flew to DC.  Arrived around 9pm, Aunt M picked us up and took us to her house, had a late dinner of homemade chicken chili stew (YUMMY)

Nov. 10: We took the Metro system into DC (Aunt M lives really close to the Vienna Station in VA), went to the Holocaust Museum and Museum of American History, took Aunt M out for a fabulous Italian dinner (had the best brushetta EVER!  It was served on a exquisite grilled cheese sandwich)

Nov. 11: We went to the Air and Space Museum, Ford's Theater, and the house where Lincoln died.  My cousins and their daughter arrive!

Nov. 12: Spent some lovely time with family before we went to Memorials: WW2, Veteran's, Lincoln, and Korean. Went by White House.

Nov. 13: More precious time with family before we went to Arlington (touching story best told in person to get the whole effect, I was reduced to silent weeping) and the Pentagon 9-11 Memorial at nightfall.

Nov. 14: We went on a Capitol Tour, saw the Library of Congress, went and had lunch at Union Station, and saw the Marine Corps Memorial.

Nov. 15: Travel day back home!

My favorites are underlined!  It was a great trip!  Stephen had the time of his life.  It was exactly the type of vacation he loves!  My feet were killing me, but I am so glad that we got to see everything that we did.  We're already discussing our next great adventure.

Thank you to my Aunt M and Uncle T for being such wonderful hosts while we were there.  They live so close to the Metro that it was easy to get into town.  It was also much more affordable to stay with family! What a blessing it was to visit family and our nation's capitol!

  1. Hey Sugar, it was our great pleasure to have you both here, you are welcome anytime, no advance warning even necessary! There's SO much to see. I'm so bummed your trip ended with a yucky fever, but hopefully that's a distant memory now. I had the sweetest surprise in my mailbox from you guys yesterday! That was not at all necessary but I will use it happily!! Thanks too for the yummy Italian, I think that brushetta will even win over my non-Italian-loving mate! Hugs to you both and do plan to visit us again anytime!!
