Time for Good Company - Proverbs 22:24

I apologize for my absence from the blog world over the past few weeks. In addition to several trips, I've had some major life changes taking place. To start off, I'd like you all to take a moment to look up the bible verse referenced in the title of this blog post. Proverbs is such a wonderful book of the bible. It's full of little zingers like these that are profound and meaningful on so many levels. My decision to leave my position at my job came after much thought and prayer. There are several verses of the bible, like the one I posted in the title, that repeatedly came into my mind as I debated staying or going. Ultimately, I felt a strong pushing to step down from my post and pursue a healthier work environment. I wasn't in the presence of very good morals and values at that job, and I certainly didn't want to be picking up on that nastiness. After my decision was made, I began submitting resumes to misc schools and non-profits. I heard back from a few schools and strongly considered getting back into education, but something else came up. SOMETHING AWESOME! Over the past year, my family has talked a lot about what will happen to the family business after Mom and Dad retire. They had made it known to my sister and me that they would like for us to maintain the business within then next two years. We were both psyched when they told us this because we are very proud of the hard work our parents have put into this business, and we would certainly like to keep their hard work moving forward in the future. I spoke with my parents about my decision to leave my job and they suggested coming on at the family business now to start learning the ropes. Emily will join me here someday soon, as well. In the mean time, Em will shadow Dad and she's going to be the wall I bounce ideas off of! I'm so happy to be working for my folks, but it's a lot of pressure to succeed at the same time. I certainly don't want to let my bosses/parents down!

Arkansas Road Trip:

We rented a huge white, church youth group trip style van we coined the "Little Denny's Chapel of Love Tabernacle of Immaculate Conception Praise Choir Tour Bus" and set off on the drive to Fort Smith, Arkansas for Logan's wedding. We've known this family as long as I can remember. We usually only see them once a year, so it's always a treat when we get together. Logan was the most beautiful bride I've ever seen.

North Carolina:

We went to NC to meet and celebrate the baptism of our God Daughter, Ada. She is a beautiful and sweet baby girl! If I didn't have baby fever bad before, I certainly had it terribly after spending a few days holding Ada! All babies are miracles, but Ada will always hold a special place in my heart. I know what a blessing she will be to her family and everyone else whose life she touches.

Ft. Worth:

I then went to DFW for the Nascar Truck and Indy Races with my folks and sister. If you've never been to a race, and even if you aren't a race fan, you need to go just for the top notch people watching. It's worlds better than WalMart! It was unbelievably HOT, but we had a really nice time. We camp at the track for each race (3 times each year) and it always brings me back to the days in the old pop-up.
