Get A Move On

It's been two months since I updated this blog. In those two months our house has been on the market. We've gotten about 6 offers, accepted one, terminated one, and accepted another. We're scheduled to finally close on our house next week. I cannot tell you how grateful I will be to to load up all of the boxes and furniture that are sitting in line to board the UHAUL.

When we originally listed our house we were under contract on a home in our current area, but that contract fell apart. After that the weather turned gnarly. It rained for weeks on end. Showings of our house slowed dramatically. During this time we began weighing the idea of relocating closer to Stephen's work instead of staying in our current area. Eventually the weather cleared up and then our house took off. We had so many showings and lots of offers, but we were holding out for as close to a full price offer as possible. Finally we got a full price offer! We decided to look near Stephen's work on the Friday after our house got a contract on it. While we were out there looking we found two homes that we really liked. We hopped in the car to head back to our current area while our Realtor put together an offer(s) for us.

Before we made it back to our current area, our Realtor called to tell us that since we looked at those homes less than an hour ago they were already under contract! F$#^! $^%! Grrr. We couldn't believe it. How had both of them gone so fast?! So we decided to look in our current area on Saturday since there was so little available near Stephen's work.

We looked at several houses in our current area. I loved one of them a lot. It was a perfect floor plan, but after seeing the commute that Stephen does every day I knew that it was time to relocate. We went back home and looked some more for homes available near his work. We looked and looked. Looked some more, hit refresh. Looked some more, hit refresh. After a refresh something magical popped up! A house near Stephen's work, enough space, new, turn-key, large outdoor entertaining area, and within budget! We called our realtor right away and told him not to let this one get away. It had literally just came up online, so no showings had been done on this house yet. We told him to get us in as early as possible on the first day that they were going to do showings. On Sunday morning before 10am we looked at this house. On Sunday morning before 10:20am we made an offer on this house that was accepted!

A few days later the offer on our house fell apart. Thankfully within 48 hours later we had another full price offer from a buyer that could move quickly.

We are thrilled with this house. It's in a great neighborhood, the schools are amazing, and it means that Stephen's 47 mile commute (each way) is now trimmed down to about 15 miles. We're all packed up and ready to move in to our new place.

Hopefully we'll be able to move in within the next 2-3 weeks. I'm sure the current home owners didn't expect it to sell so quick, so they have a lot of packing to do! I'll post more photos after we move in.

Fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly in the next few weeks.
