Luke 12:25
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life ?
In every life there will be periods of joy, triumph, and being just plain content. Of course the same road of life is also peppered with times of worry, concern, fear, anger, and the overwhelming desire to shake your fists at the clouds. I sometimes find myself plagued by worry in the highs AND lows of life. Things can be going so smoothly around me and still I worry that things have to come crashing down any minute. I feel as if I am not entitled to be content for long stretches of time, so I panic about what tragic event will occur to throw me off the wave of bliss. Of course during the lows I borrow all kinds of trouble by having a debilitating belief that I am cursed and marked as just plain unlucky. Pity party anyone? While I still suffer with these irrational moments of borrowing pain and worry, I like to think that our lowest of lows have taught me something...
Have these 60 second meltdowns, and then move on. Do not let yourself lose more than a minute worrying about the things you cannot control. All you can do is live each day the way you are meant to; through our actions, worship, prayer, giving, and engaging in fellowship with others, etc... Take these moments when you are worrying and hand them over to God. Let Him work it out. You may not feel instant relief, or even relief in a comfortable period of time, but relief always comes to His children.
Rant over.
