Even though everyone says that I'm just like my mom, I really feel like the older I get the more I see BOTH of my parents in me. I avoid confrontation at all costs, but I can run my mouth. I can let things that bother me go, until a certain point. I can be sweet and understanding, but I can make you wish you'd watched yourself. I'm an advocate for clear communication, but a master of passive aggression. I really am a little of this & a little of that. As I've gotten older, I've learned to pause and consider my thoughts and actions before making decisions. I know I have not yet perfected this art, but I'm definitely improving.

Stephen and I are doing really well. We completed our first quarter of "Approved & Waiting." Each quarter that we wait, we are required to complete adoptive parent development trainings. Our agency provides online training videos, but we are also encouraged to read books and attend classes. We'll be required to take an infant CPR class prior to placement. Even though we've been waiting for over three months now, we are both feeling really good about the wait. Just last night we talked about how much we are looking forward to placement, but we are still enjoying our time together - just the two of us. We treasure the time now, knowing that when the baby arrives, things are really going to change.

Around the house we've been working on winterizing the yard (last year we lost a chunk of our front yard to frost and dog traffic) and organizing the inside of the house. Sometimes you just need to purge all of the things that just collect dust. I managed to get a Christmas decoration up under the claim that is was just a fall tree. Stephen is so good to just shake his head and roll his eyes.

This upcoming weekend we are going to the airshow. I am so excited! We always have a wonderful time on this day. Last year we did not get to go, so I'm happy we'll be returning this year.

Our church has had an interim pastor for the past year. He had really big shoes to fill because we really loved the previous head pastor. The interim pastor clearly knows his stuff, but is not engaging at all. I don't expect to be entertained at church, but I do expect to be able to stay awake and retain the message. I am thrilled that the church has elected the new head pastor. He will start in November, and is supposed to be an awesome guy. We missed the vote on October 10 because we were at a wedding. Everyone who attended has had very positive things to say. The first Sunday of November will be a memorable day for our church!

I could go on, but I'm ready to close this post down. I'll make an effort not to go so far between posts!
