I sincerely hope that the majority is correct and that we are adopting within the year. We appreciate your enthusiasm!
As I update this, I am sitting in the recliner at my sister-in-law's house. Jonathan is in Afghanistan until October, but he will have an exciting time checking his email tonight. We emailed him his first pictures of his future son or daughter.
I had a wonderful phone call today from a former teaching colleague. My old school starts up on Tuesday, so it was nice to catch up before she gets super busy with school. To be perfectly honest with you all, I rarely miss TEACHING. What I do miss is the relationship with my teaching team and the wonderful feeling that to at least one student, you have made the difference. I DO NOT MISS the system. It is dreadful focusing all of your energy on a single test (TAKS) when the students would benefit more from actual real world knowledge and skills. I'm often asked if I'll ever go back to teaching, and the honest answer is... maybe. I'm always feeling a pull to be a school librarian or a library manager. More than teaching, I love sharing my love of books and stories with children! To be a librarian, I'd need a Master's Degree in Library Sciences, but many schools are shifting to a Library Manager system which does not require the Master's Degree. There is usually one librarian for 2-3 schools who moves between them. On the days when the librarian is at other schools, there is a library manager on site. This might be something worth pursuing in the future.
Well, that's all the rambling I'm going to do tonight. Look for a more substantial update soon.
